It’s here! Saturday! SaturdaySATURDAY! The biggest and most glamorous neighborhood garage sale in all of San Francisco happens this Saturday, August 8, 2015 all over Bernal Heights, and if you want to find the goods, you need this high-tech treasure map.

Yup, it’s time to put on a comfortable pair of walking shoes, stuff your pockets with wads of petty cash, and load up the bootlegged copy of that FedEx route-optimization software you downloaded from a sketchy Albanian website. Because you’re going to want to map-out your plan of attack for the more than 100 Bernal homes that are having a garage sale on Saturday.

Here’s the pre-sale update:

As of late Weds evening, the Bernal Hillwide Elves tallied 111 garages that have registered to participate in this years most epic garage sale ever! Facebook has been blowing up with tons of likes, 60+ shares, lots and lots of comments and general social media mayhem!

Sellers are going to have a fantastic day on Saturday. And if that weren’t enough, we’ve raised over $2,300 for the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center! Booyah!

Sellers can still register your sale.

Buyers, check out the map and plan your route.

  1. Tonight (Friday) at midnight is the deadline to reister if you’ve been holding out! Go to hillwide.com/register-now to get on the map!

One scavenger hunt, one part party, mix in bargains, serve Bernal style!

  2. In her recent 6 points of light post, good neighbor Darcy Lee raised some important and not surprisingly sensitive comments about ways to view and respond to changes happening in our City and on our Hill. I am skeptical, as I witness one crime which contradicts the so-called humanity of Bernal after another, but Darcy’s never steered me wrong in my 20+ heartfelt years as a resident, so I ‘m willing to give in to the rapture and see what happens. According to Zillow, the most recent home sales in Bernal (19) for the month of July, were around $26,000,000, I certainly hope that our community can do a little better than $2300 in donations to the Neighborhood Center this year. Does the onus fall on those who are leaving, as a generous farewell, or those arriving, as a welcome and a nod to the future? Only time will tell.

  3. Julie, way to make a fun, happy community-building event into your own private litmus test and judgment of what you think others should do. Why don’t you go and meet some neighbors, try to be friendly and create some community?

  4. I “hear” there is an Interior Designer selling off some home accessories from her stash, along with lots of kid stuff… on Newman Street! 🙂

  5. And now there are 147 sellers on the map! This is the biggest garage sale ever, and so many people are offering really exciting and unique items. Can’t wait for tomorrow!

  6. Total tally is 150 garages and we’ve raised a skootch over $3,000 for the BHNC! Woohoo! Have a great day on the hill everyone and may the bargains be ever in your favor!
