Wells Fargo Banking Robot Materializes on Cortland

WFatm

Late last week, a new Wells Fargo ATM opened on Cortland Street, at the corner of Moultrie, near the library.

This is a handy thing for Bernalese Wells Fargo customers (of which there are many in our lands) because until now the nearest bank robots were at our dysfunctional Taoist Safeway or Mission @22nd St.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Customers should slowly approach the new banking robot and say “Klaatu Barada Nikto.” This will signal to the robot that you are friendly.
  2. Insert your plastic card into the slot next to the flashing light on the right. The robot will smell the magnetic stripe to authenticate your identity and verify your account.
  3. Use the icons on the screen to give the robot banking commands
  4. When used properly, the bank robot can dispense slips of green paper that can be exchanged for goods and services from nearby Cortland merchants.

Progress!

  1. For the first time in my life, I’m excited that my wallet is almost empty!

I wish it wasn’t so bright and cheerful, though. Cortland is looking more and more like Disneyland everyday. Don’t Wells Fargo have any less intrusive designs?

  2. As a member of the San Francisco Fire Credit Union I can use ANY ATM and get reimbursed for the charges. I switched my money to a credit union when I got fed up with the gouging and corruption of the big banks.

    • Yes, a garage for 4 cars for the 4 units that are above. Now there are no parking spots for the tenants but two new added street spots in front of the building. I wonder how the city approved that one??

      • As crazy as it seems, The City’s mentality now seems to be restricting the amount of parking available in condo and apartment buildings. I looked a brand new construction condo in Potrero Hill (1001 17th Street) a few months ago and The City only approved ~9 parking spots for 26 units! The agent encouraged us to buy quickly so we could also purchase the final remaining parking spot (for an additional large sum.)

Happily, I’ll be staying in Bernalwood where I can park my two cars in my garage.

  3. Well, I guess it’s better than another liquor store/bar/artisan spirits/booze shop… which seems to be the only growth industry on Cortland these days.

But I’m more excited by what’s about to open right next to that inhuman bank portal…
    a new pre-school! Yay kids!

  4. Is the building that’s being refurbished right behind the ATM going to be a branch of the bank or is that where the pre-school is going into?…thx

  5. A perfect scenario would be for a Wells Fargo mini-branch to open up on Cortland Avenue.
