Bernal Hill Cleanup Was Successful — and Social

Neighbor Sarah, who helped organize the Bernal Hill cleanup last weekend with the (super sexy) Bernal Go Team, shares this Executive Summary of the cleanup party’s effort:

It went great! Good turnout, nice to meet neighbors. The scene wasn’t as bad as last year (probably because of the fog), but we still picked up many bags of fireworks, bottles, trash, and fossilized dog poop (shocking quantities of this). We also met some neighbors who didn’t even know about the official cleanup but were cleaning up on their own anyway.

  1. Thanks neighbors for doing this cleanup. I’d like to encourage dog owners (I am one) to try to pick up stray poop bags and when you pick up your own dogs waste, if there is some other dog’s waste, pick that up too, on a daily basis. After I realized that I probably miss some of my dog’s waste and sometimes come home only to realize that I’ve accidentally dropped the poop bag somewhere I try to do this at least once on every walk.

  2. it’s good the hear from the rare dog owner that does not act with impunity…but, it’s to bad nothing can be done about the moasic and aroma of dog piss that permeates Bernal Hill…band dogs for a year (at least) and let the Hill restore itself

    • Bernal Hill is disgusting. I own a small dog and would never go up there…
The City should charge a fee to *dog walker businesses* and use the
money to hose the hill down twice a month,

  3. I tried to sign up to be a part of Bernal Go Team a while ago but never heard back. How can we join to help in clean-ups like this?

    • Wait ’til you’re announced
We’ve not yet lost all our graces
The hounds will stay in chains
Look upon Your Greatness and she’ll send the call out

Living in ruins of a palace within my dreams
And you know, we’re on each other’s Bernal Go Team

  4. Thanks Go Team for your good work and clean up. One reason why there wasn’t as much to pick up is the dog walkers up there around 7:00 am cleaned up first.
