If you need another reason to take the new Bernal Star restaurant on Cortland for a test drive, here it is: Neighbor Jesse Schlenker is showing some of her watercolors on the walls. She tells Bernalwood:
My paintings are currently on display in the rear cottage of the Bernal Star restaurant (formerly the Liberty Café) at 410 Cortland St. My new work, the Golden Corner (a nighttime scene of 18th and Mission) is included in this show.
Shown above, Neighbor Jesse has also shared “Bernal Hill,” as seen from the top of St. Luke’s and “Nexus” (aka the 101-280 Spaghetti Bowl). Below, we have ”14 Mission Bus” arriving at 29th and Mission:

There’s kind of a Taro Gomi thing going on here. (Which I mean as a compliment.)
what was all that racket with at least 6 cop cars and someone down on the sidewalk at Cortland being held at gunpoint Sunday morning?
all I could tell is that it was a young woman on the ground
Beautiful work, Jesse!
Love this work! My art budget is very limited, but I’ll be happy viewing them on the wall there at least… 🙂
These are fantastic, especially like the MUNI bus one, very vibrant.

Beautiful to see the Art! Congratulations!
As for the restaurant, it’s not so big a change, just a short migration away from the Chicken Pot Pie era. Which is fine with me.
Rich, lively portraits of our home hill environs!
