David Spector shared this photo of a construction zone/no parking sign that’s been in place on Bennington near Cortland for at least a year… and apparently, there’s no end in sight.

How is that legal? I mean, what’s to stop builders from just upping the end-date with a sharpie whenever they want to? Is there any sort of a check on this system?
Yes – they have to have a street use permit. You can look it up here: http://dbiweb.sfgov.org/dbipts/default.aspx?page=AddressQuery
So what is involved in renewing such a thing? Are builders able to do it over and over again without limit?
As long as the building permit is active they can continue to renew the street use permit. Given how long Blair Burke takes to finish a project… It’s gonna be awhile.
