There was some noveau riche excitement on Montcalm at Peralta this morning, as a limo driver made a foolish mistake by trying to navigate the narrow streets of Bernal Heights in a ridiculously long stretched Hummer.
As Neighbor Gareth reports, things got really testy once a garbage truck showed up… and got trapped behind the silly stuck limo:
In other news: Happy Valentine’s Day!
UPDATE: Neighbor Barbara has the backstory… and the romantic happy ending:
The limo was picking up a Bernal born and bred bride and her groom and their families. They were off to City hall for their romantic Valentines Day wedding when the limo drama ensued. Sweet story–they made it to City hall on time . . .
Yay! Congratulations to the new Bernalweds!

well, at least that explains why it was so late showing up.
Your ride or the garbage truck? 😉
Glad it was resolved without anyone having to drain their hot tub.
Too bad they didn’t try to drive down Prentiss between Chapman and Powhattan (the steepest street in San Francisco but this fact is mostly unknown… Most likely for sure to a Hummer limo driver! Now, that would have been as good as when i saw a semi ground out on Taylor coming down from nob hill. If we cant keep everyone out of SF… At least our hills can have some selectivity towards large machines! Just makes you appreciate those guys driving the trash trucks that much more too.
When irony goes bad.
More Yuppie Tech scum.
Actually, Prom Queen is more likely. But don’t let that get in the way of your rancor.
I think it might be some kind of bus. When it drove past me this evening, going up Alabama and turning left onto Montcalm, I could see silhouettes of at least a dozen people sitting inside. It went up Montcalm and stopped to let someone off.
I am so sad I missed that up the street.
Wow — such cynics. The limo was picking up a Bernal born and bred bride and her groom and their families. They were off to City hall for their romantic Valentines Day wedding when the limo drama ensued. Sweet story–they made it to City hall on time . . .
Glad it ended better than last time. Glad for all of us.
